David Clive Girton, 60, passed away at the Exceptional Living Center on Sunday, June 13, 2010, from complications of MS.
A lifelong resident of Clay County, David graduated from Staunton High School in 1967, and attended Indiana State University.
He then went to work for GTE as a lineman, and rose to the rank of supervisor, later becoming an independent installer of underground phone lines, and was among the first to do installation of fiber optic cable.
He is survived by wife Kate Girton, son Damon Matthew Girton and wife of Terre Haute, mother Carolyn Girton, Brazil, sister Mary Jo Alumbaugh and husband, Brazil, niece Erica Stallcop and husband, Brazil, and nephew Garrett Alumbaugh, also of Brazil.
David was a former 32nd degree Mason and Past Worthy Patron of the Knightsville Eastern Star.
Cremation is being handled by Roselawn Funeral Home.
A memorial service has been planned Monday, June 21, at 11 a.m., at Christ Community Church, Brazil.
