Pete Dye Junior Golf Tour tees off with opening round

The Pete Dye Junior Golf Tour teed off on its inaugural season with a round at Forest Park Golf Course on Wednesday afternoon.

Thirteen junior golfers of all ages were part of the first round of the tour with Mason Short coming home with an 18-hole score of 73. Walker Smith and Grant Lewellyn, each Terre Haute North golfers, shot a 79 and 80 respectively. Drew Atkinson was fourth with a score of 82.

Incoming sixth-grader, Cam Lewellyn shot an 86 followed by a 92 from Dylan Sutherland. Braxton McIntyre shot a 94 with Blake Bennett scoring 98, Austen Bowen had a 99 and Keegan Roembke shot a 108.

Three golfers played just nine holes in the tourney with Megan Ramer leading the way with a 42 followed by a 54 from Bryce Pittman and a 57 from Asher Mace.

The tour is open to all junior golfers and plays each Wednesday at 1 p.m. The next round will be at Geneva Hills in Clinton on June 23 also beginning at 1 p.m.
