TERRE HAUTE -- Early turnovers and outstanding performances by quarterbacks Andy Walsh and Taylor Duncan opened the door for the North to dominate the South 40-13 Saturday night in the fifth annual Wabash Valley Football Coaches Association All-Star game at ISU's Memorial Stadium.

South Vermillion's Walsh, completed 5-of-8 passes with one interception for 74 yards, including a 24-yard pass to John Burt of West Vigo. Walsh, who will play at Wabash College this fall, also crashed through three defenders for a three-yard touchdown run.

Marshall's Duncan completed 3-of-6 passes for 57 yards and led the North with 53 rushing yards.

Northview High School 's Scotty Wheeler, Jonathan Bradshaw and Anthony Hubbard played on the winning North All-Star squad.

The 27-point margin was the largest in the five-year history of the game.

"I was definitely expecting (the South) to be a lot stronger than they were, but we executed real well and forced some turnovers and we came out with a big win," Northview's Wheeler said.

Wheeler, who will play at Kent State in the Mid-America Conference this fall, played out of position at left guard. He played right tackle for Northview last fall.

"It was the first time I played left guard in four years," Wheeler said.

Still, Wheeler enjoyed the week of football.

"We made it fun. The coaches were real relaxed. It wasn't a normal week like high school football where we had to go all out. We learned the stuff pretty quick, made it real fun. And all the guys were easy to get along with. We took it serious when we had to, and the score shows," Wheeler said.

The North led 13-0 after one quarter and 27-6 at halftime. North increased its lead to 34-6 in the third period.

There were no statistics available on tackles for either squad.
