Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Friday, July 2, 2010, at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, Ill., with Rev. Paul Bauer officiating. Visitation was from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, July 1, 2010, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial was at Blue Point Baptist Cemetery, rural Shumway, Ill., with military graveside rites.

Thomas was born Dec. 1, 1921, in Martinsville, Ind., the son of Johnson F. and Dora (Payton) Weddle.
He married Betty J. Higgenbotham in 1942, in St. Charles, Mo. She preceded him in death Aug. 14, 1994.
He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army. He was employed for 39 years at Fedders Corp., Effingham, Ill., and retired in 1984.
He was a past member of Effingham V.F.W. Post No. 1769, American Legion Post No. 120, and Eagles of Effingham.
Survivors include his daughters Mary An Vail, Beecher City, Ill., Sandra (Godfrey) Brockett, Watson, Ill., Barbara (David) Wence, Decatur, Ill., and Lynn Weddle, Effingham, Ill., 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, brothers Ted (Betty) Weddle, and John (Alice) Weddle, both of Brazil.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, three sisters and son-in-law Don Vail.
