He was born Dec. 31, 1925, in Owen County, as the son of Ismael O. and Mary Alice Staley White. He graduated from Patricksburg High School and continued with vocational training in electronics. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army with the 303rd Infantry Regi8ment, 97th Infantry Division until his Honorable Discharge Feb. 1, 1946. He married Florence L. Frye Dec. 31, 1950, in Coal City.
He worked as an electronics technician in his own business and at area companies including Arketex, Ringo Sawmill and Hoosier Hardwoods. He was a member of the Pleasantview Baptist Church in Coal City. He was an amateur radio operator, member of the Military Affiliate Radio System (M.A.R.S.), the American Legion, NRA and a lifetime member of the VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters Grace (Woodrow) Leohr, Lorene (Ernest) Dubois, and Louise (Troy) Kelley.
He is survived by his wife Florence L. White, daughter Ricki (Wayne) Loughmiller, Brazil, sons Mickey (Kim) White, Terre Haute, and Casey (Terri) White, Coal City, grandchildren Lora (Brian) Hofmann, Terre Haute, Robert C. Loughmiller, Brazil, Dale White, Brazil, and Drew White, Eaglin AFB, Fla., great-grandchildren, Avery Loughmiller, Brazil, and Nona White, West Terre Haute, sister Betty Sebastian, Peru, brothers-in-law, Dewey (Kathleen) Frye, Tharron G. Frye, Harlan (Nancy) Frye, Vic Frye, and Randy (Lea) Frye, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., today, at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m,. Friday, at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Grayless officiating.
