Considering fungicide applications to corn? Worried about other crop diseases? Having weeds escape through your herbicide program? Purdue Extension will host a Crop Diagnostic Workshop with two Purdue specialists on Friday, July 9, at two locations in West Central Indiana. Farmers from throughout the area are invited to attend at either location.
The morning session at 9:30 a.m., will be held at Parke County Extension Office, on the Fairgrounds, on U. S. 41 north of Rockville. An afternoon session at 1:30 p.m. will be hosted at Ivy Tech's Ag program Crop Plots, 1-mile west of U.S. 41 on Harlan Road, south of Terre Haute.
Purdue Extension Specialists Kiersten Wise and Glenn Nice, plant disease and weed control specialists in the Botany and Plant Pathology Department, will lead discussions, demonstrate field scouting, and answer questions. Farmers and ag industry personnel are invited to bring samples for the specialists to look at for individual concerns. Ivy Tech Ag Chair John Rosene will also discuss using crop plots to plan for 2011 seeding decisions at the afternoon session.
For details about these workshops, please call Parke County Extension Educator Mark Spelbring at 765/569-3176, or Vigo County Extension Educator Jim Luzar at 812/462-3371. If anyone needs a reasonable accommodation to participate in these workshops, please call in advance.
