Web site offers inspirational messages

Friday, July 2, 2010

WEST TERRE HAUTE -- What does love look like?

Answers are likely as plentiful as individuals.

Some of the Sisters of Providence donors and companions recently offered their perspective on the issue and the result is a powerpoint presentation on the Congregation's website.

Visit www.SistersofProvidence.org to get an eyeful of inspirational messages accompanied by family photos, pictures of couples, individuals and pets to see how they imagine love looks like.

Love, mercy and justice are three virtues included in the Sisters of Providence mission statement.

"We thought this might be a unique way for people to connect with our mission and, perhaps, stir some fond memories of their own," Sister Ann Casper, executive director of the Office of Congregational Advancement said. "We think the response was overwhelming. There are some very touching, meaningful messages for all to share."

The staff of the Office of Congregational Advancement developed the project.

The Sisters of Providence, a Congregation of nearly 400 women religious, have their motherhouse at St. Mary-of-the-Woods, located northwest of Terre Haute.

Saint Mother Theodore Guerin founded the Sisters of Providence at St. Mary-of-the-Woods in 1840.

Today, Sisters of Providence minister in 19 states, the District of Columbia, Taiwan and China.
