Calling for NHS band support

Monday, July 5, 2010

To the Editor:

The Northview High School Band and Guard fell short of its goal on the Pepsi "Refresh Everything," $25,000 grant for June.

However, they are still in competition for the July grant.

The community needs to get behind their students and push. It takes very little effort. All you have to do is vote -- daily -- from each of your e-mail accounts. I'm sure that we can accomplish this if we work together.

What's in it for you? Well, we have many people who think that there is not enough for kids to do around here. These kids are doing something. We have many kids in our school corporation and our funding from the state is being reduced, but this grant is coming from the Pepsi Corporation so it is free money to our school for the music department.

Mr. Tim Rayle, the principal of Northview High School, uses the motto, "Every Child, Every Opportunity, Every Day," extensively. Our community participation in assisting the Northview band get this grant will indirectly impact every student and taxpayer in the county for a long time, so let's not miss the opportunity.
