SMWC leading retreat

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

WEST TERRE HAUTE -- Michael Morwood, a well-known presenter on theological issues with more than 30 years experience in retreat, education, parish and youth ministries, will lead a retreat Aug. 8-14, at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

The retreat is hosted by White Violet Center for Eco-Justice, a ministry of the Sisters of Providence.

The theme is "God, Jesus, Prayer and Liturgy in a new story of the universe."

Discussion will focus on a Christian spiritually grounded in belief that everyone and everything is connected to God. Participants will reflect on Jesus as the revealer of this mystery and how prayer and liturgy affirm participation in the mystery.

Morwood is a native of Australia. He helps Christians articulate faith in Jesus in ways that resonate with contemporary understanding of their place in the universe. He is the author of several books, including "Tomorrow's Catholic: Understanding God and Jesus in a New Millennium;" "Is Jesus God? Finding our Faith;" and "Trusting Our Faith."

Cost of the retreat is $450, which includes room and board. Cost is $325 for commuters. Registration deadline is July 16 with a $50 deposit due at the time of registration.
