Hello from the Carbon Baptist Church

Once again the booth at the park was very successful. Thanks to all who helped make it that way. All the proceeds will be going to help finance our Youth Summer Camp, July 26-30. If interested in attending, call the office or see Youth Pastor Chris Lee.

Pastor Howard and the congregation wants to welcome everyone to be a part of our growing and loving church. Have a good week.

First Baptist Church

We invite you to worship with us at First Baptist this Sunday and Thursday. Paul in Romans 3:22 says, "God puts people right through their faith in Jesus Christ. God does this to all who believe in Christ, because there is no difference at all. Everyone has sinned and is far away from God's saving presence, but by the free gift of God's grace all are put right with Him through Christ Jesus, who sets them free." You have that opportunity to know and grow starting at 9:30 a.m. with Sunday School classes for all ages. Worship service begins at 10:30 with Pastor Mark Thompson. There is an adult-staffed nursery available and KidMo for the pre-school through 5th grade children.

Sunday evening we are studying John Ortberg's, The Life You've Always Wanted at 6 p.m. This session will give suggestions for meditating and seeking God's wisdom and guidance.

Wednesday is our Mid-week Bible Study. You are all invited to study through the Bible with us at 12:15 p.m.

Wednesday evening at 6 p.m., all committees will meet. Following this meeting we will have our monthly business meeting at 7 p.m. Note that this is a different schedule and you are especially encouraged to attend.

THE ROCK is a contemporary worship service for youth, young adults, and all family members. During the sanctuary service there is also a nursery and Thursday KidMo, an action-packed Bible program for all elementary students.

Friday at 7 p.m. the Middle School and High School youth meet at the church. You may find them outside on the parking lot or inside in the air conditioning.

You are a priceless creation of God. Celebrate with us to know the One who is love and who created you. See you Sunday!

Several volunteers are still needed to help make plans for the annual Help-A-Family at Christmas Golf Scramble. Men and women, whether you play golf or you don't play golf. You don't even need to know what a golf ball looks like! We need people who will contact businesses about sponsoring the event.

NOTE: We still need two people on July 19, for the 3-7 p.m., time slot to wash dishes at church camp. Please contact the church at 812-446-0531, with your name and phone number if you can help.

We are located two miles north of US Hwy 40 on the Knightsville Road or two miles east of Indiana 59 on Rio Grand Road.

Church Phone Number: 812-446-0531 or 812-448-2871

Until next week remember: You can have it all and have nothing...if you don't have God and Jesus in your life.

Carbon United Methodist Church

The Baptist Church south of Carbon has a sign up that says "You think this is hot!" Doesn't that make you stop and think? We complain and complain, don't we, of the weather. It is either too hot or too cold, but very seldom just right. We had a few "just right" days last week, but I'll bet not too many of us stopped to thank God for them. We have a tendency to just complain to God, it seems. Let's be more aware of thanking Him for the good things instead of complaining to him about the not-so-good things. I'm sure God is big enough to handle our complaints wisely and patiently, but thanking Him will certainly make us better for having done so!

The Carbon Church of the Nazarene and the Carbon United Methodist Church are stepping into high gear now getting ready for a great Vacation Bible School. It will be July 19-23 from 6:15-8:30 p.m., each evening of that week. The program will be at 7:30 on Friday evening. The theme for this year is "Diving Deep -- Exploring the Depths of Jesus' Love" using a deep sea format. There will be a lot of fun things going on while children learn the depth of Jesus' love for them and how they can show their love to others.

There will be songs, stories, games, crafts, and refreshments -- all guaranteed to keep the kids busy for the entire evening.

We can use all the adult help we can get, so if you would like to come see just what goes on at Bible School, come on down! We'll put you to work!

If you are concerned about your eternity being HOT, perhaps you should do something about it now. Come to church and accept Jesus and eternal peace. Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m., and Worship is at 10:30.

Seelyville United Methodist Church

Seelyville United Methodist Church is a community of Open Hearts, Open Minds, and Open Doors. We are located at US 40 and 2nd Street in Seelyville, one block east of the stoplight.

Join our scrapbooking group as we meet Sunday from 1-7 p.m., in Fellowship Hall on the lower level of the church.

Community Missionary Church

Pastor opened with prayer for spoken and unspoken requests, shut-ins, those awaiting surgery and those recovering, and our military in harms way.

Carol Vanatti led the congregational singing and Mrs. Sandra Jenkins sang a special "On the Cross is my Statue of Liberty." Today being a celebration for American these words take precedence.

"In New York harbor stands a lady,

With a torch raised to the sky;

And all who see her know,

She stands for liberty for you and me.

I'm so proud to be called an American,

To be named with the brave and the free;

I will honor our flag and our trust in God,

And the Statue of Liberty.

On lonely Golgotha stood a cross,

With our Lord raised to the sky;

And all who kneel there live forever,

As all the saved can testify.

I'm so proud to be called a Christian,

To be named with the ransomed and whole;

As the statue liberates the citizen,

So the cross liberates the soul.

Oh, the cross is my Statue of Liberty,

It was there that my soul was set free;

Unashamed, I'll proclaim that a rugged cross,

Is my Statue of Liberty."

"Whatever America hopes to bring to pass in the world must first come to pass in the heart of America."
