She attended Clinton High School and Heim Beauty College, Gary, Ind. She had a beauty shop in Terre Haute from 1949-1965, then worked as a cashier at AP and S Clinic, and later retired from Merchants National Bank as a bank teller.
She was born July 16, 1918, in Vigo County to John W. Hancock and Ora Hayne Hancock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant twin grandsons John David and Jerry Lee Baratto, maternal grandparents George W. Hayne and Sarah Gibson Hayne, paternal grandparents William W. Hancock and Susan Sims Hancock, along with several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include son Gino Baratto, Jr. and daughter-in-law Margaret Baratto, her only granddaughter Becky Chrisman, Brazil, her pride and joy great granddaughters Christina Chrisman, Indianapolis, and Melissa Chrisman, Brazil, her very good friend of many years Jane Frye, Terre Haute, one sister Margaret Webber (Ed), Missouri, several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Avenue, Brazil, Monday, July 12, 2010, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Ernie Rush officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home, Monday, from 11 a.m., until time of services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation P.O.
