"We didn't make it through," Jonny McLain recently told The Brazil Times about the band's "America's Got Talent" audition and the on-line voting for Rock The Camp contest. "You have to get used to this kind of thing if you're going to be in the music business."
However, spirits are high for band members McLain, Rick Swearingen, Dave Loughmiller, Dave Henry and Tyler Mattox. The group was invited to participate in the WIFE Colgate Country Showdown on Friday, July 16, at the Roberts Park Amphitheatre in Connersville, Ind.
Starting at 7 p.m., the public can attend the show for $8 per person. The band intends to perform original songs "Rescue Me" and "The Stand" during the show.
While there is an opportunity to win an ultimate grand prize of $100,000, the best friends are more excited about being able to perform their unique sound and bring an uplifting message before a crowd.
"Looking at our event calendar, it might not look like we're doing a lot, but we always seem to be playing," Henry said about local performances. "It's great to see the faces in the crowd and then realize they are singing along with the songs, our songs."
