Trailer fire

Friday, July 16, 2010

At about 9:20 p.m., Friday, the Brazil City Fire Department responded to a fully engulfed trailer fire at the southwest corner of Ohio and Morgan streets, Brazil. Because officials were still on the scene as of press time, details are limited, but various area volunteer fire departments assisted in putting out the fire, and the American Red Cross was notified to assist the family. Neighbors claimed to hear an explosion in the area, but no injuries were reported as of press time. Ivy Jacobs Photo.

No one was home at the time of the fire. Thanks to all the officers who responded. The owners of the trailer are my family. They lost everything for their unborn son. he is due any day. The place was a total loss. We are just thankful that no one was at the time of the fire. A big heartfelt Thank You goes out to Officer Dave Archer for busting in the door and saving their dog. They are most greatful.

It is sad to see when this kind of thing happens. I am glad that everyone was ok (including the family dog...they are VIP family too...I'd be lost w/out my cat) =)

Is there going to be any kind of collection (money cans @ gas stations, etc) taken up for the family?

JQuick - Not at this time. They are at the hospital having their baby right now. So we are trying to gather up baby clothes and clothes for them.

We are going to try to set up an acct at a bank for money donations. we are going to try to raise enough money for them to rebuild fairly quickly. The address is 719 South Morgan Street. That's where anything can be dropped off at. Thanks again! Your help will be greatful to the family.
