Statewide program benefits libraries

Sunday, July 18, 2010

Many may not be aware but all services available at the Brazil Public library are available at libraries statewide.

Through the Indiana Library Reciprocal program, those who utilize the Brazil Public Library may also check out books from other libraries across the state that are members of the program.

The Owen County Public Library is one of those. Several things are happening at the Owen County Public Library for reciprocal borrowers. Besides the books, audiobooks, music and movies available for checkout, the Reciprocal Library patron can now download audiobooks and eBooks onto their home computer or Mp3 player from the library's Digital Library at http://owen.lib.overdrive.com.

Find downloadable books by searching title, author, subject or format and add the selection to the "cart."

If the book selected is not available, it will automatically be put on hold and an e-mail will be sent when it is available.

Check out, download and immediately enjoy selections or transfer to a variety of devices such as iPod and Sony Reader, or burn to a CD.

Those interested must have a library card from their county of residence to become eligible for an Owen County Library Reciprocal Patron card. The card is free of charge and may be picked up at the front desk of the Owen County Public Library, 10 S. Montgomery St., Spencer.
