It's time for the dirt to fly and cars to crash. This Saturday will be the first of two Demolition Derbies sponsored by the Clay County 4-H Council. The second will take place Aug. 28.

"This is one of our largest fundraisers for 4-H," Event organizer Jim Stevenson recently told The Brazil Times. "It's a great family event, and all the proceeds go entirely to the 4-H program."

Gates open at 5 p.m., with cars taking the track around 7 p.m. The public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs because seating goes quickly.

Admission for school children and up will be $7 each, with pit passes available for those individuals age 16 and older for $17 each.

Car registration fee is $25.

Various concessions will be available.

During this year's event, Stevenson said there three 4-H teams will participate in will also be "Minute To Win It" type games between the heats. Organizers hope the crowd will cheer on their favorites.
