The Brazil Concert Band, under the direction of Matt Huber, will present "German Summerfest 2010," Sunday, Aug. 1, at Forest Park, rain or shine.

The BCB's own German Band, the Happy Wanderers, will kick off the evening at 7:15 p.m., performing traditional polkas and waltzes for the annual review of German music.

The Popcorn Festival Committee will serve German food, beginning at 5:30 p.m., in the Forest Park pavilion.

The entire Brazil Concert Band will take the stage at 8 p.m., with a stately program of German classics, featuring Richard Wagner's "The Ride of the Walkyries," "Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral," and "Lohengrin."

German marches will be chosen from "Der Graf Spee," "Alte Kameraden," "Hoch Heidecksburg," "Der Koniggratzer," "Kaiser-Parade," and "Die Wacht Am Rhein."

"Prost Stimmung," was purchased in Germany several years ago for the Brazil Concert Band and is a waltz medley of the best-known stein swinging favorites. It will also be performed.
