She was born Dec. 1, 1930, in Old Hickory, Tenn., the daughter of Allen and Era Hunt Keen.
Her family moved to Clay County when she was a young girl. She attended Brazil High School.
On Jan. 31, 1948, Evelyn married the love of her life, Jacob S. Smith.
She was a homemaker and the center of their family. She enjoyed caring for her husband and family, cooking and oil paintings.
She was a member of the Spencer Baptist Church and also had attended Fatch Chapel Church.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 63 years Jake Smith, Clay City, children Judy (Jim) Canning, Spencer, Dennis (Sue) Smith, Clay City, and Karen (Butch) Moss, Clay City, six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, brothers Virgil (Ruth) Kenn, Brazil, and Charles (Jenny) Keen, Indianapolis, and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother James Keen, sister Elizabeth Keen and special sister-in-law Eva Keen.
Funeral services will take place Wednesday, at 2 p.m., at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, with Pastor Marvin Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, from noon-2 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Vista Care Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
