Terry Ann Turner Crawford, 65, Terre Haute, formerly of Marshall, Ill., died July 31, 2010, at 5:20 p.m., at Royal Oaks Rehabilitation Center. She had been there for a short time.
Terry was born Sept. 2, 1944, in Marshall, the daughter of Wayne Andrew Turner and Edith "Eddie" Smitley Turner. She graduated from Marshall High School and was very active with activities while in high school.
She was a cheerleader for four years and was the leader and choreographer of the Marshallettes.
She was a lifeguard and taught swimming lessons at the Marshall Pool.
Following graduation, she attended Indiana State University, majoring in Education.
While at ISU, she was a choreographer for the Sparkettes.
All of Terry's adult life, she gladly accepted the role of volunteer. Over the years, she was active in Law Wives; Service League of Union Hospital; Burnside Nursing Home in Marshall; St. Ann's Clinic; St. Patrick School and Annunciation School in Brazil. She also was an educational assistant at "Magic Years" preschool for several years.
For the past 17 years, she has been the loyal caregiver to the French Family in Brazil, Ind. She was the ever-present nanny to their children, especially to Shelby.
Terry was patriotic and never missed a voting day. She was a steadfast friend, and was devoted to her family.
Survivors include her children Christy Crawford, Terre Haute, J.T. Crawford and his wife Quincy, New Orleans, and Cathy Crawford, Indianapolis, grandchildren Layke Fowler, Turner Crawford and Cordell Crawford, sister Susan Halt and husband Phil, Waterloo, Ill., brothers Andy Turner, Detroit, Mich., and Dr. James Turner and wife Connie, Terre Haute, many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Andy and Eddie Turner, sisters Sally Ramsey and Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Turner, and the father of her children, James Crawford.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m., Central Time, Wednesday, at St. Mary's Church in Marshall, Ill., with Father Mike Haag officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4-7 p.m., with the Rosary at 7 p.m., at Pearce Funeral Home.
