REMC announces June grant recipients

Wednesday, August 4, 2010

In late June, the Utilities District of Western Indiana REMC Community Fund announced its next round of grant recipients.

Through UDWI members who allow their electric bills to be rounded up to the next whole dollar each month, the Community Fund continues to support local community organizations.

Participating members who donate their spare change make it possible for the Community Fund to make positive changes in all communities.

Local charitable organizations need the support of community members in order to continue their work.

The efforts of these organizations strengthen communities while improving the quality of life.

June recipients include Wabash Valley Red Cross, Richland Township Fire and Rescue, Inc., Lawrence County Historical and Genealogical Society, Inc., Kicking Bear -- Indiana Chapter, Eastern Green Schools -- Body Safety Program, Linton Music Festival, Pregnancy Choices, Boy Scouts of America Hoosier Trails Council, Four Rivers Resource Services, Inc., Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry, Center Fire Department, Greene County Alliance for Networking and Growth, and Richland-Taylor Township Fire Department, Inc.

This is great. Bet you'll never see DUKE Energy doing this. All they do is take and take and take. I wish I had an option on who supplies my electricity.
