A yard sale will take place this Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Staunton Community Center from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Everyone in the community is invited to participate, and all proceeds will go for a new painted floor in the Center. Hot dogs and other refreshments will be served at the Yard Sale.
The monthly meeting of the Staunton Town Board will be on Monday Aug. 9, at 7 p.m.
Staunton First Christian Church
Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m., with worship service following at 10:30. Doug Parkey is the minister. If you need transportation to morning worship service, please phone the church office at 446-3211; the bus is wheel-chair equipped.
Children's Church and Wee Worship meet at 10:30 in the Educational Building.
Sunday evening service starts at 6 p.m., Wednesday evening Bible Study and Prayer Group meets at 7.
The Elders will meet at 6 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 9, followed by the Church Board meeting at 7 p.m.
The Christian Fellowship Club will meet for lunch at Pizza Hut in Brazil on Wednesday, Aug. 11 at 11:30 a.m.
Staunton United Methodist Church
Sunday School is at 9:30, with Church Service following at 10:30. David Brown is our Pastor and his wife Elaine brings the Children's Message. Glenna Simons is the pianist.
If you would like to take part in serving lunch at the Lighthouse Mission this Sunday, August 8, plan to come to morning worship service.. We plan to leave the church for Terre Haute at about 10:30 a.m.
We will have a "back-to-school fun night" on Sunday Aug. 15. A movie will be shown and there will be plenty of refreshments. Plan to attend for an evening of fun and fellowship.
Happy Birthday to Nick Pine on Aug. 8, and happy belated birthday to my great-niece Julie Dawson, whose birthday was July 31.
Remember that the Community Food Pantry is open in the church's basement from 3-5 p.m., on the last Wednesday afternoon of each month. The next Food Pantry day will be Wednesday, Aug. 25. Anyone in the Staunton area in need of help is welcome. We appreciate the support of all the churches, schools, civic organizations, and individuals who help make this needed outreach a success.
Please keep praying for everyone who is battling illness, as well as all the brave men and women of our military and their families. Also remember in prayer all the folks in nursing homes and hospitals, and those who have lost loved ones. Go out of your way to be kind to someone, and pray for everyone.
