Marybeth learned of her acceptance into the competition after Nationals, Inc., announced their selections in late July.
She submitted an application and took part in an interview session that was conducted by this year's Indianapolis Pageant Coordinator.
She will compete for a share of thousands of dollars in prizes and specialty gifts that will be distributed to contestants. Marybeth will compete in the Miss Jr. Pre-Teen Division, one of four divisions that will have young ladies between the ages of 7-19 competing in modeling routines, which include casual wear and formal wear.
She will also display her personality and interviewing skills while interviewing with this year's Indianapolis judging panel.
Personality is the top aspect that each contestant is judged on during all phases of competition.
If she wins Miss Jr. Pre-Teen Indianapolis, Marybeth will represent Indianapolis and the surrounding communities at the Cities Of America National Competition, which will take place in Orlando. More than $60,000 in prizes and awards will be presented at the national competition while each winner enjoys the expenses-paid trip of five nights and six days.
There is no cost for Marybeth to participate in the pageant competition. Community businesses, organizations and private individuals have assisted her in participating in the competition by becoming official sponsors. Through sponsorship, each contestant receives all the necessary training, rehearsals and financial support, allowing Marybeth to be prepared for the pageant.
Any business, organization or private individual interested in becoming a sponsor for Marybeth should contact her Indianapolis pageant coordinator at 1-800-569-2487.
Marybeth was born Nov. 1, 2000. She is the daughter of Kevin and Kay Batchelor and will be a fourth-grader at Eastside Elementary this year.
She has four brothers and one sister.
According to her biography, she "aspires to be a veterinarian or doctor when she grows up."
