The Clay County Thanksgiving Basket Program is now underway.
Applications for assistance will be available to families in Clay County at Brazil Housing Authority, Clay County Department of Child Services and Family Resources, Hamilton Center and throughout all county schools beginning Aug. 9.
The deadline for submitting an application for Thanksgiving baskets is Oct. 22.

'Project School Supply'
The Brazil Public Library will once again sponsor "Project School Supply," this year.
The public is encouraged to donate new, basic school supplies to the library to be distributed equally among the schools of Clay County.
The supplies will be delivered to the schools before the start of the school year and will be dispersed at the discretion of the principal and teachers.
Everyone is invited to participate and help children get ready for the new school year.

The Brazil Eagles Lodge No. 274, 122 E. National Ave., Brazil, will conduct a special meeting at 7 p.m., Wednesday.
Building option plans will be discussed. All members are welcome to attend.

The V.F.W., 303 S. Depot St., Brazil, will be the site of a Beef Manhatten Dinner Friday.
The event will take place from 4-7 p.m. Cost is $5.
All proceeds from the event will go toward the Clay County Veterans mini-van fund.
Various items will be auctioned off at the event.
The 53rd Carbon United Methodist Church Homemade Ice Cream Social will take place from 4:30-7 p.m., Friday.
The menu will consist of homemade ice cream, homemade barbecue sandwiches, homemade pimento cheese sandwiches, hot dogs and coney dogs, four different salads, cakes and pies, strawberries and shortcake, with or without ice cream, and drinks.
The event will take place at the Carbon United Methodist Church, located five miles north of Brazil on State Road 59 and one mile east in Carbon.
The Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department will conduct its monthly breakfast from 7-11 a.m., Saturday.
The menu will consist of biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes.
Share Food signups at First Christian Church will take place from 9-11 a.m., Saturday.
Pickup for the food will take place from 9-10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 28, also at the church.
A "Super Shot Saturday" event will take place Saturday for the required immunizations for students entering grades 6-12.
It will take place in the lower level of the St. Vincent Clay Medical Office Building, 1214 E. National Ave., Brazil, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and is being sponsored by the Clay County Health Department.
Immunization records are mandatory.
A parent or legal guardian must accompany the child.
