In recent weeks, I have written about how come October, my life will change more than it ever has before.
Our baby is due in October and I truly am looking forward to it.
Throughout the course of several weeks, I have basically written online updates regarding the baby, whom we have affectionately nicknamed "jellybean," after the first photograph we received of the baby. It looked like a jellybean.
We have entered the third trimester of this pregnancy. To me, it doesn't seem like it's been seven months, but rather, just a couple.
On the other hand, Merry recently reminded me I'm not the one carrying the baby.
Regardless, it seems like time has gone by quite swiftly.
We only have a couple more months before we welcome our little "jellybean" into the world.
Two of my recent blogs discussed what has become several, gentle kicks the baby has provided.
Jokingly, I blogged about how we must have a drummer on our hands.
An online reader suggested we were going to give birth to the second coming of legendary Rush drummer Neil Peart.
In another blog, I discussed how I hope the baby has some sort of understanding of music in general.
Music has been such a huge part of my life, to be honest, I'm not certain who I would be without it.
But Saturday evening, the possibility of jellybean enjoying a life enriched with music came to life.
I had just finished recording tracks for a song earlier in the day.
I knew Merry had gone around town to various garage sales and was quite certain we would have more baby clothes to put up.
The other item I saw just floored me.
As she went through what she purchased at various sales Saturday, she saved the best for last.
She took me to our garage to show me a child's drum set she had purchased earlier in the day. I was speechless. Sure, I had written about how I hoped our child would have a genuine love for music. But this was wonderful. Almost unbelievable.
The set needs a little tweaking but is in great condition.
Jellybean will be banging on the drums in no time.
It reminded me of when I was a child and someone in my family purchased a Muppets drum set for Christmas I believe.
Needless to say, that set didn't last long.
But I'm quite certain I drove my parents absolutely nuts.
And they loved it.
And I'll love this.
I have a keyboard, three bass guitars and two acoustic guitars at our home. Frequently, I'll get the acoustic out and strum out a few tunes.
I hope I have the opportunity to share some of that with our baby.
Perhaps we can form our own two-person band. With drums as the lead.
