Benefit scheduled for local family

A benefit ride for Byron and Lisa Halfhill has been scheduled to take place Saturday, Aug. 14.

A ride to benefit Byron and Lisa Halfhill to help pay for medical expenses has been scheduled to take place Saturday.

Registration will take place from 10-11 a.m. Cost is $15 for a single rider or $20 per couple. Cars are welcome for $15 per car.

The ride will begin and end at the American Legion Post 2, 1015 S. Forest Ave., Brazil.

A silent auction will take place.

In addition, door prizes and photographs will be available.

The silent auction is scheduled to take place at 11 a.m., inside the American Legion.

Food will be available at the end of the ride at the American Legion Post 2 Restaurant.

Byron was recently diagnosed with bone cancer, while Lisa has had multiple health issues.

The open ride is being sponsored by the American Legion Riders Post 2 and Bucks House of Color.

Additional sponsors include A+ Printing, Advance Auto Parts, The Alamo, Brazil Animal Clinic, Bedwell Tires, Brazil Physical Therapy, Eye Care Specialists, Fiesta, Florence's Hair Care, Homes Express, Luxury Nails, Brazil Mayor Ann Bradshaw, Mike, Penni and Katie Campbell, Paitson and Son Home Improvement, Paintings by "Raggedy Jan," Pizza Hut, Rissler's Extreme ATV, Sunshine Realty, Twiggy's Pub, William McBeth and the Y of Clay County.

  • Yes that would be nice, however it will be the most abused welfare program ever. I hope the benefit is a huge success! Thats what it should be, neighbors helping neighbors.

  • I'm praying for you and I do daily. I will be attending the charity ride and I hope many others join me. This healthcare bill is a far cry from financial help for them. Please do your research on the Halfhill's case before assuming the healthcare bill is their solution. The healthcare bill won't cover any of their needs. Let's all go out and support this family and not rely on the government, it really is just an excuse to not do your part.

  • Thanks to Everyone who has called, came over to visit,brought food, $$ all the things that have been done we have so much and so many to be Thankful for, praying the weather is nice tomorrow and thanks again Mark for getting this set up and walking beside us on long road ahead.
