Dennis Dean McGlone

Dennis Dean McGlone, 61, Terre Haute, passed away at Cloverleaf Health Care, Brazil, Aug. 9, 2010, following an extended illness.

He was born June 19, 1949, in Terre Haute, the son of Dale Edward and Aline (Krockenberger) McGlone.

Dennis graduated from Staunton High School with the class of 1967. He attended Indiana State University for three years, majoring in accounting.

He married Janet Puckett Nov. 27, 1970.

Following college, he worked for GTE as a cable splicer retiring after 20 years of service.

He and his wife Janet worked for Mid West Institute as swimming and exercise instructors. While there, they taught infants and children to swim. They taught their parents water safety and they taught seniors basic movement and exercise.

Mr. McGlone enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially enjoyed bird hunting, most of all he enjoyed watching Dale Earnhardt race NASCAR.

As a kid, he was very involved at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brazil. There, he served as the Sunday School Superintendent, Church Treasurer and Youth Leader.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Brawn Christopher McGlone, and in-laws Brawn and Dorothea Puckett.

Survivors include his wife Janet McGlone, Brazil, uncle William McGlone and wife Betty, Terre Haute, brother-in-law Ken Puckett and wife Edna, niece Alyson Lainheart and husband Steve, nephews Eric Puckett and wife Karen, and Wade Puckett, great-nieces Megan Turner and Betty Puckett, great-nephews Kenny Puckett II, Brawn Puckett and David Puckett, as well as several extended family members.

Services for Dennis will be at French Funeral Home, Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Rick Castle officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home, Tuesday, from 11 a.m., until time of services.
