Scholarship recipients present were Kyle Hughes, Lauren Reberger, and Brittany Reckard. Carissa Clark was initiated into Tri Kappa prior to the start of the meeting. Vice President, Meganne Holley called the meeting to order, followed by the opening song and verse. Christy Casassa took roll call and read the minutes of the June meeting. The minutes were accepted as read. Mandy Slater gave the treasurer's report:
The treasurer's report was accepted as read. Mandy Slater paid $8 to Larissa Goshen for the carnations that were purchased for Martha Maurer's step-son's funeral. Martha Maurer sent a thank-you card for the contributions made by Tri Kappa with the passing of her step-son. Lauren Reberger sent a thank-you for the scholarship money she received. Project committee reports were given next. Meganne Holley passed around the program book for everyone to check their information to see if it was correct and to see what committees they are on for this year. Program books will be handed out in September.
Old business was discussed. Mandy Slater did the second reading of the proposed 2010-2011 budget. Annual membership dues of $30 for members and $8 for college students are due as soon as possible. If anyone who needs to know what their fines are can contact Christy Casassa.
New business: There was discussion about continually getting new members for Tri Kappa and promoting Tri Kappa to those in the community. Money was collected at this time for the raffle and new member project. Jamie Bell won the raffle of a Vera Bradley lunch bag and candle. Jacque Reberger won the "girl's night out" new member raffle prize. Pam Fischer is helping with the "Dive for a Cure" fundraiser for diabetes. Pam explained the fundraiser and who it would help. Several donations have been given by local businesses for the cause. There was a motion made by Jamie Bell and seconded by Theresa Underwood to donate $35 from Tri Kappa for a sponsorship. Tri Kappa's name will be on the back of the T-shirts. The event takes place Aug. 21, from 6-10 p.m., if anyone is interested in helping out with this.
The closing verse was recited and the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be held on Sept. 13, 2010, with location to be announced.
