Patriots' school record leads golf team past Knights

Thursday, August 19, 2010

Times Staff Report

TERRE HAUTE -- The Northview girls golf team has gotten the best efforts of their opponents in the last two dual matches of the season.

On Thursday night, the Terre Haute North Patriots' recorded a school record team score at Hulman Links in defeating the Knights, 162 to 201.

The Patriots' score was nine shots better than the round that the squad posted last season at Cascades Golf Course in Bloomington.

The news certainly wasn't all bad for Northview as the team cut nine strokes off its score at Rea Park earlier in the week.

Senior Hayley Miller topped Northview with a 42 with Shelby French shooting a 50, Macie Lynch carded a 53 followed by a 56 from Karlie Atkinson. The 201 was Northview's best score of the young season and bodes well as the squad prepares for the Western Indiana Conference tourney at Stonecrest on Aug. 28.

The Knights are scheduled to be back in action on Monday against West Vigo at Forest Park Golf Course.
