FARMERSBURG -- The Northview boys tennis team opened the 2010 season in style with a 4-1 win over North Central (Farmersburg) on Thursday evening.
The Knights picked up a pair of wins in singles play and swept both doubles matches to garner the road victory.
At No. 1 singles, Carson Kleiber scored a 6-2, 6-3 win over the Thunderbirds' Austin Prechtel and Dillon Reynolds earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles.
Caleb Mershon hammered out a 6-0 win in the opening set of the No. 2 match for the Knights. However, his opponent, Brennan Crooks, rebounded to take the next two sets, 6-2, 6-2 to earn the T-Birds only win.
In doubles play, the Knights' team of Joey Thomas and Sam Miller posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory against the team of Nolan Kinnett and Chaz Childs. In the No. 2 doubles match, Cole Watts and Bryce Briitton took a 6-0, 6-1 win against North Central's Dustin Boyll and Chris Stamper.
The Knights are back in action this weekend with a home match against Brown County on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
