Steven E. Chew, 59, Greencastle, passed away Thursday Aug. 19, 2010.

He was born June 27, 1951, in Clay County, to Earl Chew and Betty Langley Chew.

Steve was a graduate of Indiana State University and was a long-time employee of Verizon Telephone Company.

He was active in Greencastle Youth Sports, serving as a baseball, basketball and football coach for many years, and was an avid golfer.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Charmain Cox Chew, daughter Kimberly K. Chew, two beloved grandchildren Chase Steven Chew and Hailey N. Minkner, his mother Betty L. Chew, Reelsville, brother Keith Chew, Brazil, sisters Janet Chew, Reelsville, Julie Battin and husband Tom, Reelsville, Kathy Bond and husband Bill, Reelsville, Jamie Pittman, Avon, and Kammie Meck and husband Brian, Ellettsville, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by a daughter and grandson, Danielle Marie Chew and Chance Keegan Chew-Robie, his father Earl Chew, and nephews Jason Archer and Scott Bond.

Services will take place Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, 602 E. Washington St., Greencastle, with Rev. Steve Williams officiating.

Internment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, from 3-6 p.m., at the funeral home.
