He was born Oct. 6, 1922, in Caruthersville, Mo., as the son of Loyd W. and Lucinda Tanner Jenkins.
He worked at the Arketex plant and then as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy from March 1942, until his Honorable Discharge October 1945, as a Signalman, Third Class.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post No. 2, and V.F.W. Post No. 1127, and a member of Operating Engineers Local 841. He married Loretta Powell, who survives him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Alene and Pauline Lester.
He is survived by his wife Loretta Jenkins, sister Daisy Baker, Kentucky, daughter Wanda Butts (Robert), Brazil, sons Lloyd Jenkins Jr. (Barbara June), Brazil, Ron Jenkins (Claudia), Brazil, and William Jenkins (Denise Hittle), Tipton, Ind., and Charles Jenkins (Carol), Princeton, Ind., 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and other extended family.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, and 10-11 a.m., Thursday, at Moore Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Clinton Lester officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Calcutta Cemetery.
