James Joseph Deakins, 66, Brazil, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 15, 1943, in Terre Haute, as the son of James Matthew and Maxine Catherine Snyder Deakins.

He graduated from Gerstmeyer High School.

He was owner and operator of his own exterminating business, Town and Country Services.

He married Janette "Kim" Knox Aug. 10, 1984, in Terre Haute.

He enjoyed fishing, skeet shooting and watching his son Matt play baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marilyn Rose Norton, grandson Brad Earl Karn, and son-in-law Steve White.

He is survived by his wife Kim, son Matthew James Deakins, daughters Shelly Ann Karn (Brad), and Sheila Jo White, all of Brazil, sisters Janet Sue Hapenny, Seelyville, Sharon Lee Toteno, Terre Haute, and Rita Y. Nuss (Charles), Seelyville, grandchildren Jennifer Karn Clodfelter (Matt), Ben Karn (Penny), and Stephanie White, all of Brazil, great-granddaughter Julia Clodfelter, Brazil, several nieces and nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday, at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, with burial to follow at St. John's Cemetery.
