On Tuesday, members of the Clay County Chamber of Commerce officially welcomed IVC Industrial Coatings, Inc., Liquid Division, to its growing list of partners.

The company has been in operation for approximately two weeks, according to General Manager Bud Beverly, working with a "skeleton crew."

However, Beverly said the company is in the process of hiring new associates and will continue to do so.

"We're hiring all the time," Beverly said.

Following the company's official ribbon cutting Tuesday, Beverly led those in attendance through the facility for a 20-minute tour.

In 2008, IVC Industrial Coatings, Inc., announced it was moving its world headquarters from Indianapolis to Brazil. Representatives with the business spent the better part of a year in negotiations to purchase the building that once housed MI Windows and Doors.

A deal to purchase the building was finalized in 2009.

IVC also has an existing powder division located at 2831 E. Industrial Park Dr., Brazil.

IVC has other locations in Arizona, Georgia and Michigan as well as China, Malaysia and the United Kingdom.

The company is a leading resource and supplier in powder, liquid and specialty coatings for commercial and consumer customers, including Bose, Dynamic Plastic Corporation and Herman Miller.

I'd start by going out there personally. Never call on the phone and ask if anyone's hiring. That's like saying, "You're not hiring, are you?". When I was in the hiring position, I always told people "Not over the phone, I'm not." If you insist on calling, like for a son or something (just sayin') the number is (812)442-5080.

I took the initiative to look it up for you.

The problem with Brazil, and most towns anymore, is a can NOT attitude, not a can DO attitude.

Take a hike to the other side of the world, if you don't support progress.
