The following is a list of upcoming events provided to The Brazil Times:

Share Food Pickup

Pickup for Share Food at First Christian Church will take place from 9-10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 28, at the church.

Car Show

The Friends of the Seelyville Car, Truck and Bike Show will take place Saturday, from 10 a.m.-noon.

Awards will be handed out at 3 p.m., for the top 20. Five special awards and five bike awards will also be presented.

Door prizes will be available and a 50-50 drawing will take place. A DJ will provide live entertainment and food and drinks will be available.

A town yard sale will also take place.

Jerry's Ride

The American Legion Post 2, American Legion Riders and Local 1453 Brazil City Fire Department, will host a charity ride for Jerry's Kids.

The 100-plus mile ride will have registration from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, with the ride beginning at 1 p.m., at the legion, 1015 S. Forest Ave., Brazil.

Cost is $15 per person, which will have the last bike at the legion at 6 p.m.

The event will also feature prizes, food, raffles and live entertainment from Big Dead Bird.

T-shirts will also be on sale the day of the event. Prices are $15 for sizes small-XL, and $18 for 2X and 3X.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Fish Fry Benefit scheduled

A Jonah Fish Fry benefit for Team Challenge of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America will take place from 4-7 p.m., Saturday, at the Brazil National Guard Armory.

Prices for advance sale tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children. Cost at the door will be $8 for adults and $5 for children.

A raffle will be conducted during the event, and tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

Sidewalk project

Beginning Monday, ST Construction will start work on the sidewalk project.

Work will take place in the following locations:

* Ridge Street -- between Pinckley and Alabama streets,

* Mechanic Street -- from Lambert Street to approximately 130-feet east of Ringo Street,

* Franklin Street -- between Ridge Street and United States 40, and

* Franklin Street -- between United States 40 and Kruzan Street.

'Who Speaks For You?'

St. Vincent Clay Hospital will host "Who Speaks For You?" Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m.

The program will provide information about advance care planning and advance directive forms for the public to talk about their wishes with family, friends and healthcare providers.

Speakers include Dr. Charles French; Karen Iseminger, Ph.D, FNP, Director of Ethics Integration; Paulette Gaskill, RN Case Manager; Jeffrey Boyll, Attorney; and Chaplain Jeff Seger.

CCSR Fundraiser

The Clay County Search and Rescue, a not-for-profit organization, will conduct a hog roast and corn hole tournament fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 4, at the Forest Park Pavilion.

Registration will begin at 11 a.m., with the tournament starting at 1 p.m.

Cost is $10 per person or $20 per couple.

Barbecue dinners will be served at 2 p.m., at a cost of $5 per plate.

Free entertainment will also be available.

Donations are also being accepted at Harris Bank, 103 W. National Ave., Brazil. Bank officials confirmed donations can be made on behalf of the "Clay County Search and Rescue," inside the bank branch or in the drive-thru during normal business hours Monday-Saturday.

The department will use all proceeds from the event to purchase necessary equipment.

Meeting moved

Due to the Monday, Sept. 6, Labor Day holiday, the Carbon Town Council board meeting will take place at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Carbon Town Hall.

Heroes Breakfast

In honor of 9-11, Clay County first responders are invited to a complimentary breakfast at Pappy's Bar-B-Que, 111 E. National Ave., Brazil.

The event, co-hosted by Pappy's and Cloverleaf Healthcare, Knightsville, will take place from 8-11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 11.

Reservations are requested to ensure enough food is prepared.

Nature Days

The second Nature Days will take place Sept. 11, at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds, from 9 a.m.-noon.

Those attending will be able to search for critters and bugs in the creek, walk the nature trail, learn about edible plants, forestry, lawn and garden questions and answers, bats, make a bird feeder and more.

At 11 a.m., there will be a raptor program, where those attending will be able to visit up close with hawks and owls.

Exceptional Living Center, 501 S. Murphy Ave., Brazil, will conduct a Cruise-In, Car Show and Vendor Fair, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11.

There is no charge to enter the event. A trophy will be presented for Best of Show and Dash Plaques will be given out to the first 50 entrants.

In addition, entertainment will be provided by Just Crusin' Mobile DJ services.

Ice Cream Social

A homemade ice cream social will take place at the Otter Creek Christian Church, 6299 N. Crow St., Brazil, Saturday, Sept. 11, from 5-8 p.m.

The Deaton Family Bluegrass Gospel Singers will be on-hand to minister. There will also be a moon walk for children of all ages.

The event is free and for all ages.

House of Hope, 5525 W. United States 40, Brazil, will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, Saturday, Sept. 18.

Platters will be served from 8 a.m.-noon.

A $5 donation will cover each person served.

All proceeds will go toward the general needs and bills of the ministry.

A tour and explanation of the programs offered at House of Hope will be available by staff.

The Lost Creek Conservation Club will conduct its 2010 .22 Rimfire Rifle Competitions Sunday, Sept. 19, and Oct. 17.

Practice sign-ins will take place from noon-12:15 p.m., with competition beginning at 1 p.m.

All are welcome.

Shotgun spot shoot will take place Sunday, for factory firearms only.

The Clay County Farm Bureau Co-op Credit Union will celebrate Customer Appreciation Week Sept. 27-Oct. 1.

The credit union is encouraging residents to come in and signup for a free gift basket giveaway, scheduled for Oct. 1.

Free refreshments will be available throughout the week.
