ELLETSVILLE -- Northview hit the road for a WIC opening victory on Thursday, defeating Edgewood, 25-11, 25-21, 25-14.
The Knights got a team-high nine kills from Brylie Riddell, who also had seven digs and four blocks and Kaylee Clark added seven kills and eight digs.
"We played outstanding volleyball," coach Scott McDonald said. "Brylie provided too much offensive power for (Edgewood)."
Briana Cook passed out 20 assists and had 10 digs in the win and Ashlen Buck added 10 digs.
"Our serve-receive was great in the sense that we were able to get a swing on nearly every ball," McDonald said. "Briana was very good again tonight. She is really becoming comfortable in our new system.
Elizabeth Emmert had two digs and three kills, Audrey Clark had three digs, Alexus Bex stuffed the stat sheet with three digs, two assists, a kill, a block and two aces. Shelbi Morris tallied three kills and four blocks, Kalyn Beil had three kills and both Emma Nicoson and Darcy Bass had a dig.
"We are getting better each time out," McDonald said. "On Saturday, we will have to be ready to play against top-level competition."
The Knights (4-1 overall, 1-0 WIC) travel to play in the Avon Invitational on Saturday at 9 a.m.
