Carl W. Buchholz Jr.
Carl W. Buchholz Jr., 70, Richmond, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born Jan. 24, 1940, in Brazil, to Carl W. Buchholz Sr., and Bernice Nichols Buchholz, he lived in Richmond since 1964.
Carl served in the United States Air Force Reserve.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts at Indiana State University and his Masters in Teaching at Ball State University.
Carl was a dedicated science and industrial arts teacher for 41 years at Test Junior High School.
He was an active member of First English Lutheran Church, and a member of the Elks, Druids, American Legion, Marine Corps League, and the board of Wayne County Teachers Federal Credit Union.
Carl enjoyed coaching and was a time-keeper at Earlham College and for more than 40 years at Richmond High School.
He loved to remodel houses and enjoyed being a landlord and his relationships with his tenants/friends.
Carl enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years Christine Cheryl Meadows Buchholz, daughters Beth Anne Buchholz, Bloomington, Ind., and Megan Elizabeth Buchholz, Chicago, son Andrew Joseph "A.J." Buchholz, Richmond, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life service for Carl W. Buchholz Jr., will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at First English Lutheran Church, 2727 National Road East, Richmond, with Pastor John R. Walker and Pastor Brian D. Derrer officiating.
The family will be receiving friends after the service.
Entombment will be in the First English Lutheran Church Columbarium.
Arrangements are being handled by Doan and Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
