Hope the city doesn't follow
To the Editor:
I read in The Brazil Times (Monday, Aug. 30, 2010) that Logansport charges $5 for a permit to have a garage sale.
Was that a preview for the residents of Brazil because the city is thinking of doing that here?
What a great thing it would be to do to the people here who are trying to make ends meet with all the layoffs -- businesses closing down and people out of work.
I know it would be just $5, but I for one, have to have yard sales to help pay my bills.
Some of the things I have to sell breaks my heart, but you have to do what you have to do.
If this is what is coming to Brazil in the future, I hope I get to vote on it, because I would definitely vote no!
I also hope if this ever comes to light here, it is by someone whose job depends on community votes to keep that job.
