TERRE HAUTE -- Indiana Department of Homeland Security's District 7 will be participating in the seventh National Preparedness Month (NPM) in September.
Sponsored by FEMA's "Ready Campaign," NPM is a nationwide effort encouraging individuals, families, businesses and communities to work together and take action to prepare for emergencies.
This year, NPM will focus on encouraging all Americans to take active steps toward getting involved and becoming prepared.
District 7 will host a preparedness event that will be open to the public. The event will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Maryland Community Church, located at 4700 S. State Road 46, Terre Haute.
From 10-11 a.m., speakers will discuss Task Force 7, preparedness and emergency response. The keynote speaker will be Director Joe Wainscott, Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
Additionally, many of the fire, police and EMS departments throughout District 7 will have equipment on display and be available to field questions.
Other entities, such as the American Red Cross, Indiana Air National Guard and Indiana State University will be on hand with displays and information for the public.
IDHS District 7 includes Clay, Greene, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo counties.
