The Websters, who live in Brazil, will be able to see a photograph of their 4-year-old Schnauzer Belle on the trunk of the No. 99 car, driven by Trevor Bayne, Friday, in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Richmond, Va.
"She just turned 4," Robert told The Brazil Times. "This is kind of like a birthday present for her."
Both avid fans of Michael Waltrip Racing, of which Bayne drives for, the Websters noticed a contest linked off Waltrip's website, www.topdogoftherace.com.
The sponsor of the contest is Out Pet Care, a sponsor for the No. 99 car.
The entry rules were simple. All they had to do was submit a photograph of their dog.
"We were watching a Nationwide race and (the analysts) were talking about it," Robert said. "We went to the website and uploaded a picture of our dog. Crystal said, 'Let's go ahead and submit a photo.' I thought it's not like we were going to win anyway."
They have two Schnauzers and sent pictures of both.
Robert said they received a phone call only weeks later informing them Belle had been selected.
"They just congratulated us on winning," Robert said, "and wanted us to send them a couple more pictures."
Belle's photograph will be blown up and will appear on the trunk of the car during the race. The race will be televised live on ESPN2 at 7 p.m., Friday.
With Belle being selected through the contest, the Websters received gift items from Out Pet Car and from the Michael Waltrip Racing team.
In addition, they were automatically entered into a contest with all the winners.
Robert said if Belle is selected in the final contest, which will take place later this season, the family will be flown to a Nationwide race in Texas.
While there, they will get to watch the race in the pit box with the Waltrip Crew.
"We're pretty excited," Robert said. "We have been Michael Waltrip racing fans for years."
