He was born June 3, 1932, in Clay County, as the son of Alfred O. and Muir Opal Black Walker. He graduated from Brazil High School with the Class of 1950. He married Wanda Reed Dec. 15, 1949.
John was a devoted husband, father and Big Pa. He was a member of Bethel Church. He retired from Eli Lilly Co., Clinton, in 1992. He loved his family, attending his great-grandchildren's sporting events, working puzzles, taking trips on his motorcycle and grooming his lawn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Alfred Earl Walker.
He is survived by his wife Wanda, children Brenda Timberman and husband Tim, Curt Walker and wife Melanie, all of Brazil, four grandchildren Kim Carter and husband Rob, Jennifer Cook and husband Shaun, Eric Walker and wife Shandra, and Holly Lee and husband Ryan, great-grandchildren Kade Carter, Ellie Carter, Calen Cook, Chloe Cook and Audrey Lee, one brother Howard Walker and wife Marylou, sisters-in-law Grace Walker and Helen Latham, nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Sunday, at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, at the funeral home with Pastor Ernie Rush and Bob Nevins officiating.
