The following is a list of upcoming events provided to The Brazil Times:

K-Day Parade Info

The annual K-Day Parade will take place Saturday, Sept. 25.

This year, the theme is "Celebrating Youth, Celebrating Life."

The lineup will form at 1 p.m., at Depot Street and National Avenue. The parade will officially begin at 2 p.m.

Those interested in entering a float in the parade may do so by calling Ann Walden at 812-236-1254, or Penny Keller at 812-877-2910 or 812-691-2980.

In addition, forms that will appear in The Brazil Times may be sent to 8728 N CR 700 W., Brazil, Ind., 47834.

Those sending forms should include the name of group, business, individual or organization, contact information, a daytime and evening phone number, a description of the entry and information to be shared at the reviewing stand.

Story Hour!

Story Hour at the Brazil Public Library will resume soon.

Children interested in reading with stories, crafts and songs are invited to the library beginning today for registration, which will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Space is limited. Children must be potty trained and parents must have a valid library card.

No registrations will be accepted by phone.

Story Hour for children ages 3-5 will begin Tuesday, Oct. 5, or Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 10:30 a.m.

Play Tryouts

Tryouts for "The Princess and the Pizza," a Young Actors' Musical, will take place at 5:30 p.m., today.

The production, through the Community Theatre of Clay County, will feature children ages 6-15, who will perform an original play based on the book of the same title by Herm and Mary Jane Auch.

The whimsical fractured fairy tale takes a lighthearted look at the pros and cons of princessing as a career-choice.

It incorporates various princess fairy tales with several well-known characters.

Application Day

The National Able Network will host an application day from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Tuesday, in the board room at Brazil City Hall.

Yard Sale

The Holy Rosary Yard Sale will take place Friday and Saturday.

The event will run from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., Friday, Sept. 17, and 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 18.

It will take place at Schelly Hall in Seelyville, located on the north side of United States 40, just east of the stoplight. For more information, call 448-3696.


House of Hope, 5525 W. United States 40, Brazil, will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, Saturday.

Platters will be served from 8 a.m.-noon. A $5 donation will cover each person served.

All proceeds will go toward the general needs and bills of the ministry. A tour and explanation of the programs offered at House of Hope will be available by staff.

'Bark For Life'

Relay For Life of Clay County will conduct "Bark For Life," Saturday, at the Forest Park Track.

Registration for the event begins at 11 a.m. Cost is $10 for the first dog and $5 for additional dogs. There is a limit of two dogs per participant and registration includes a goody bag provided by Scott Pet Products.
