Knights remain in first, Clay City 14th in polls

The second poll for the Indiana State School Music Association through www.indianamarching.com was released Monday evening.

The poll may be accessed at www.indianamarching.com, which releases polls each week during the marching band season.

In the preseason polls, the Northview Marching Knights topped Class B, while Clay City ranked 14th in Class D.

This week, Northview still reigns in Class B, while the Imperial Regiment is still 14th.

Northview received 120 total votes, including all eight first-place votes, to lead the pack in Class B.

Greenwood came in second with 110 votes, followed by Jasper (104 votes), Goshen (93 votes), Concord (87 votes), New Castle Chrysler (83 votes), DeKalb (65 votes), Plainfield (61 votes), Northridge (61 votes) and Floyd Central (48 votes).

Other bands receiving votes included Bloomington North, Decatur Central, Zionsville, North Side, Greenfield-Central, Mt. Vernon (Fortville), East Noble, Whiteland and Munster.

The only change to the Class B poll this week came at 10th place, as Bloomington North ranked in the top 10 last week, but was replaced by Floyd Central this week.

The Imperial Regiment received 15 votes in Class D this week, remaining 14th overall.

Lewis Cass received 114 votes, including four first-place votes, while Forest Park was second with 113 votes, including four first-place votes.

The remaining top 10 include Springs Valley (109 votes), Monrovia (88 votes), Paoli (81 votes), Woodlan (72 votes), Southridge (66 votes), Orleans (63 votes), South Spencer (56 votes), Eastern (52 votes), and North Posey (52 votes).

South Spencer made the biggest jump in Class D this week after receiving only one vote in the preseason poll.

Both the Marching Knights and Imperial Regiment are in action Saturday.

Northview will compete in the Red Pride Marching Invitational at Plainfield, and are scheduled to take the field at 6:54 p.m.

Other Class B bands competing in the invitational include Zionsville, Bloomington North, Mt. Vernon, Cathedral, New Castle Chrysler, Greenwood and Decatur Central. Plainfield will also compete, but only in exhibition.

Clay City, meanwhile, will take part in the Warren Central Invitational Saturday. The Imperial Regiment will take the field at 4:26 p.m.

Other Class D bands competing include Triton Central, Clinton Central and Elwood.
