Debra L. Hood, 55, Brazil, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, at her residence.
She was born June 3, 1955, in Brazil, as the daughter of Warren and Helen Lautenschlager Love. She graduated from Staunton High School and earned her undergraduate degree from ISU. She had been employed as a secretary and receptionist at Dr. Staadt and Dr. Dennany dental offices and as a data processing technician at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She married K. Kurt Hood May 1980, at Staunton Christian Church. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, cooking, planting flowers, decorating, reading and her church, Fairview Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, aunt Betty Dierdorf, and uncle Jim Love.
She is survived by her husband Kurt, daughter, Elizabeth Hood and fiancÚ Chad Swalls, grandson Warren Luther Swalls, sisters Darla Laymon (Norman), Sterling Heights, Mich., and Yvonne Huffman (Bill), Staunton, nephews Neal Laymon, Brad Huffman and Matt Hood, nieces Marla Douglas, Tammy Escott (Mike), Susan Partin, Emily Hood, Alyssa Hood and Cassie Jo Hood, mother and father-in-law Margaret and Kenneth Hood, sister-in-law Rita Harden (Paul), brother-in-law Joe Hood (Erin), uncle Jack Love, great aunts Margaret Ann Simonson and Mildred Chaney, and other extended family.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 17, at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Ford officiating.
