The Northview boys' tennis team remained on the winning side of the ledger, scoring its sixth straight match victory by defeating West Vigo, 4-1.

"We picked up another solid WIC victory tonight over West Vigo," coach Craig Cook said. "I felt like we didn't have any mental let downs after our match with Edgewood. I was proud of our kids efforts overall."

The Knights got straight set victories from their four winners and lost only two combined points at No. 1 and No. 2 singles play against the Vikings.

Carson Kleiber swept past Cody Akers in a 6-0, 6-0 win and Caleb Mershon took a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Dylan Roe.

With Dillon Reynolds out with a shoulder injury over the last few matches, Cook has placed several different competitors into the No. 3 singles spot. On Thursday, Logan Keen got into the lineup and despite dropping a 6-1, 6-0 decision to the Vikings' Blake Benefield, Cook was happy to see Keen compete.

"I was happy to get Logan into a varsity match. I realize I put him in a difficult situation tonight but he was excited about the challenge," Cook said. "He is one kid that we are going to be counting on over the next two years. He along with Garrett Baysinger, Skyler Holifield and Alec Coughanowr have worked hard all summer and throughout the season so I wanted to show my appreciation to them with opportunities to play in varsity matches this season. I am extremely proud of each of these kids."

In doubles play, Joey Thomas and Cole Watts teamed to earn a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 and Sam Miller combined with Bryce Britton to score a 6-2, 6-4 win over Paden Horsley and Tyson Tolerson.

The Knights also got three junior varsity wins on Thursday as Garrett Baysinger won a 6-0 match, Skyler Holifield won 6-1 and Zach Kumpf and Devin Harvey teamed for a 6-0 victory.

The Knights host South Vermillion on Monday at 5 p.m.
