4-H leader gives thanks for help

Sunday, September 19, 2010

To the Editor:

I would like to thank everyone who came out on a rainy Saturday morning to support the second annual Nature Day at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds.

The raptor program with hawks, falcons and owls from "Take Flight" was wonderful.

Birdhouse building and geocaching were great fun. The other programs covered many topics and offered something for young and old.

Everyone had a great time learning about bats, bees, butterflies, knots and plants.

Congratulations to door prize winners: Julie Caton, Caitlyn LeLoup, Frank Rooksberry, Kory Krider, Sarah Hoke and Carol Mountjoy.

Special thanks to the following participating organizations: Wabash Valley Audubon Society, Terre Haute Chapter of Izaak Walton League, Sycamore Trails Resource, Conservation and Development, Clay and Vigo Soil and Water Conservation District, Boy Scout Troop 95 Brazil, Center of North American Bat Research at Indiana State University, The Allard Family, Clay County 4-H ATV Club, Pike Lumber Company, Clay County 4-H Junior Leaders, Clay County Extension and Clay/Owen County Master Gardeners.

I hope everyone will come to see us again at next year's Nature Day.

Sue Urban,

Clay County 4-H Program Assistant,

Brazil
