The Northview tennis team continued its preparation for the postseason while hosting Senior Night on Monday evening.
The Knights cruised past the Wildcats with a 4-1 victory that also kept Northview unbeaten (5-0) in the WIC with a match remaining against Owen Valley on the road tonight at 5 p.m.
Senior Night festivities honored Zach Kumpf, Devin Harvey, Carson Kleiber, Caleb Mershon, Joey Thomas and Sam Miller before the match and coach Craig Cook got all of his seniors in the match.
"We were able to play all six seniors tonight. Zach and Devin played their first ever varsity matches," Cook said. "I was happy with their play and effort. They have definitely worked hard all season during practices so I wanted to honor their efforts to our team with a varsity match on senior night."
Northview was unbeaten in singles play as Sam Miller posted a 6-4, 6-0 win over Kam Weyrauch at No. 3.
"Sam Miller finished his match really strong," Cook said. "I was pleased with his effort and play especially in the second set. We will definitely need Sam to play well for us to have success in the upcoming sectional."
Both Carson Kleiber and Caleb Mershon had little trouble with their opponents as Kleiber cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory and Mershon had a 6-0, 6-0 whitewashing of Connor Blake.
Joey Thomas and Cole Watts rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles and Kumpf and Harvey fell in a tough battle, 7-5, 6-4.
"Carson and Caleb once again played dominant singles matches tonight too," Cook said. "Joey and Cole kept up their strong play too."
