TERRE HAUTE -- Power of the Purse, the annual event benefiting United Way of the Wabash Valley, has been scheduled to take place Oct. 27, 2010, at the Hulman Center.
A new component of the event this year is "The Amazing Purse Pursuit."
Earlier this year, 10 community leaders each donated a purse to be part of the competition, hoping to become the most amazing purse in the Wabash Valley. The donated purses may be viewed at the Amazing Purse Pursuit website at http://powerofthepurseforkids.com/ and anyone can vote with a donation for the most amazing purse.
All donations received during the benefit Success by 6, a United Way funded program that delivers learning and developmental programs for children ages 0-6.

"The Power of the Purse committee was looking for a new avenue to make the Power of the Purse bigger and better this year and so, the Amazing Purse Pursuit was born," United Way's Women Professional Group Chair Lori Danielson said. "We are very excited about this new component and hope that it will allow us to support the children of the Wabash Valley at an even higher level than in the past."
The purse and shopper that raises the most money wins.
The winner of the Amazing Purse Pursuit will be announced at the sixth Power of the Purse event, Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Hulman Center.
Tickets for the luncheon are $25 per person or $200 for a table of eight.
