The following is a list of upcoming events provided to The Brazil Times:

No Fireworks

Due to the Clay County Commissioners enacting a countywide burn band, Aerial Arts Fireworks announced the fireworks display scheduled for Saturday at the Popcorn Festival of Clay County has been canceled.

The cancellation was due to dry conditions.

Meeting date changed

The Harmony Town Council will conduct its Oct. 12, 2010, meeting at 7 p.m., at the Harmony Community Center rather than the first Tuesday of the month.

The meeting will take place in conjunction with the adoption of the 2011 budget.

Preschool Screening

A free preschool screening event has been scheduled to take place at the Linking Education to Adults, Adolescents and Preschoolers (LEAAP) Center.

The event will run from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., today, at the center, 501 E. Jackson St., Brazil.

Checks include speech/language, hearing, vision, school readiness and motor skills.

It is intended for children ages 2-and-a-half to 5-years-old.

Anniversary

St. Vincent Clay Hospital has scheduled its 10-year anniversary for 11 a.m.-1 p.m., today.

A cookout will take place during the event. Food will also be available for the night shift, from 9:30-10:30 p.m., in the cafeteria.

Fish Fry

Jackson Township Elementary School will sponsor an all-you-can-eat Jonah Fish Fry from 4-7 p.m., today.

The meal will include fish, sides, dessert and drink.

Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-13. Preschool children will be admitted free.

Dine-in and drive-thru pickup will be available.

All proceeds from the event will help pay for field trips, awards, convocations, etc. Jackson Township Elementary is located at 1860 E. CR 600 N., on Airport Road.

Program

The Little Historic Church at Carbon will have its first today program this week.

There will be a pitch-in dinner at 6 p.m., with the program beginning at 7.

This month, entertainment will be provided by P-150.

All are invited to attend.

Shot Clinic

A pet shot clinic will take place for cats and dogs 8-weeks and older at Deming Park in Terre Haute, Saturday, from 1-4 p.m.

Cost for a rabies vaccination is $10, while cost for a distemper vaccination (for both cats and dogs) is $15. Other vaccinations will be available.

All dogs brought are asked to be on a leash and all cats brought are asked to be in a carrier.

Get Together

The West Central Indiana Furtakers will conduct its FTA Chapter 7F Fall get-together Saturday at the Old Goat Trading Post, approximately four miles north of Rockville on United States 41.

The event will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. There is free admission.

Skinning, fleshing and trapping demonstrations will take place in addition to a question and answer session.

Door prizes will also be provided as well as a lunch.

Community Covenant

The Centennial Lodge No. 541 Free and Accepted Masons, along with the 138th Quartermaster Support Company will present a Community Covenant Signing Ceremony Saturday.

The event will take place at 3:30 p.m., at the Forest Park Band Shell during the Popcorn Festival of Clay County.

Bean Dinner

The Little Historic Church at Carbon and the Carbon Town Council will conduct a bean dinner at 1 p.m., Sunday.

All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the church.

Meeting set

The Clay County Board of Health will conduct its quarterly meeting at noon, Monday.

The meeting will take place in the Health Department, located in the lower level of the medical office building, 1214 E. National Ave., STE B 110, Brazil.

The meeting is open to the public.
