Northview, Clay City prepped for District

For the fourth week this season, the Northview Marching Knights own the top spot in the www.indianamarching.com Class B poll.

The Knights received 120 total votes this week, including all eight first-place nods in the website's Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) polls.

Northview has not moved out of the top spot of the poll since voting began in the preseason.

Jasper currently ranks second with 108 votes, followed by Greenwood (106), Goshen (98), New Castle Chrysler (84), Northridge (75), Concord and Plainfield (68 each), DeKalb (63) and Floyd Central (45).

The top four bands in the Class B poll remain unchanged, but there was some movement among the bands ranking 5-10.

New Castle Chrysler and Northridge both moved up in the poll this week, from seventh and ninth respectively, while Concord, Plainfield and DeKalb each moved down.

In last week's poll, Concord ranked fifth, while Plainfield was sixth and DeKalb was eighth.

In the Class D poll, Lewis Cass remained first with 116 votes, including five first-place votes.

Forest Park was second with 113 votes, including three first-place votes, followed by Springs Valley (107 votes), Woodland (90), Paoli (88), Bluffton (73), South Spencer (63), Orleans (57), Southridge (52), and North Posey (48).

The Clay City Imperial Regiment fell out of the poll this week after reaching as high as 13th in the first non-preseason poll of the year.

Clay City ranked 16th in the Sept. 20 poll, earning 11 votes.

The Marching Knights and Imperial Regiment both begin District competition this weekend.

Northview will compete in the Class B Southport District.

The Marching Knights are scheduled to take the field at 1:10 p.m., Saturday.

Plainfield will begin Class B competition at 12:57, followed by the Marching Knights, Whiteland (1:23 p.m.), and Greenwood (1:36).

Awards for Class B will immediately follow.

Clay City heads to the Columbus East District Saturday and will be the first Class D band to take the field.

The Imperial Regiment will begin competition at 11 a.m., followed by New Washington (11:13), Monrovia (11:26), Southwestern (11:39), Borden (11:52), Crawford County (12:05 p.m.), and Eastern (Pekin) (12:18).

Awards for Class D will immediately follow.
