The North Clay Middle School volleyball squads will take part in a fundraiser to benefit the Clay County Humane Shelter.

The squads' home game Thursday, Oct. 7, has been designated "Dig For The Dogs," night.

Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. The Knights will face St. Patrick's Catholic School.

Admission to the game is a donation to the shelter. According to information provided by North Clay Middle School parents, shelter needs currently include dog food, bones, cat food (soft or dry), metal bowls, treats, detergent, disinfectant spray, wipes, bleach, paper towels and dish soap.

In addition, the shelter is always in need of old towels, blankets and newspapers.

The players are also getting into the fundraising fray as they are selling silicone bracelets, which are currently available at the Clay County Humane Shelter.

The bracelets say, "Dig For The Dogs," and include a picture of a volleyball, along with North Clay Middle School 2010. Cost for the bracelets is $1.

T-shirts are also available for purchase. The shirts may be ordered at A+ Printing and cost $10.

Parents of volleyball players will also be making 500 bags of cotton candy, which will be available for purchase Friday at the school. Students may purchase the cotton candy for $1 per game, all of which will be added to the fundraising total.
