Second Saturdays program scheduled

Sunday, October 3, 2010

WEST TERRE HAUTE -- Terre Haute Landmarks, Inc., and the Sisters of Providence will host the Second Saturdays program from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 9, at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.

Second Saturdays was launched in August by Terre Haute Landmarks to provide an up-close-and-personal view of local landmarks and institutions. The program is open to the public without charge.

Visitors will have an opportunity to view and learn more about several places on the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods grounds.

Guests will begin the journey in the Church of the Immaculate Conception where Sister Jeanne Knoerle will talk to them about the church's history and architecture. Sister Mary Roger Madden will speak to visitors at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, which is architecturally and artistically unique.

Sister Donna Butler, a member of the Congregation's Archives staff, will greet visitors at the Heritage Museum to explain more about the historically important memorabilia that the Congregation has collected through the years.

Light refreshments will be served. Guests will be invited to register for a drawing for two free Sunday Brunch tickets.

For more information or to RSVP for the visit, contact Marlene Lu at 812-237-2824 or at marlene.lu@indstate.edu.
